What is a Landscape Rake for Skid Steers?
A landscape rake is an attachment for skid steers that allows you to prepare land for new grass seed or sod installation by removing the rocks and debris from the soil and grading and leveling. It’s designed to rake and collect rocks, sticks, debris, and any other unwanted “junk” out of the dirt leaving a level and prepared surface. Rockaway landscape rakes are available in three different sizes ranging from the largest 84” model down to the mini 44” Rockaway for stand on skid steers.
The Screening Bucket upgrade for Rockaway Rock Rakes was introduced in 2024. No other comparable landscape rake attachment offers a screening bucket option. This upgrade has quickly become a popular add-on for our customers as it offers the extra function of screening out the excess dirt that is collected with the rocks and debris.

Benefits of Using a Landscape Rake for Skid Steers
Improve Efficiency on Every Job
A good rock removal rake can help you grade, level, and clear large areas of land in a fraction of the time it would take to do it by hand. Whether you’re preparing ground for sod installation, hydro seeding, or just removing unwanted rocks and debris, a dependable landscape rake attachment increases your productivity and helps you get the work done faster.
Enhance the Quality of Your Work
A good rock rake attachment will create a smoother, more uniform job site finish, ensuring that your work meets the highest standards. A Rockaway is perfect for both residential and commercial landscaping applications, from rock removal to grading and leveling to soil preparation.
Minimize Soil Compaction
As you back-drag with the Rockaway attachment and remove rocks and debris the rotor is also pushing dirt out the front porting on the hood which fluffs the soil. This conditions a really nice seed bed and prevents soil compaction for hydro-seeding, regular grass seed, or new sod installation.
How Does a Landscape Rake for Skid Steers Work?
Simple Attachment Process
The two larger Rockaways come with standard quick attach plates on their buckets and the 4415 mini rock rake either comes with a standard mini attachment plate or a Bobcat-specific mini plate. Custom attachment plates are also available if needed. Then you just use the standard quick-attach hydraulic hoses to hook up your skid steer’s hydraulics. Once attached, the skid steer’s hydraulic system drives the rotor and you’re ready to operate.
Raking and Grading
The spinning rotor and hardened hardox 450 steel teeth on the landscape rake churn through the soil, gathering rocks, sticks, and unwanted debris. This allows you to clear the land and create a smooth, even surface ideal for construction, landscaping, or planting.
Debris Collection
The rake’s design helps collect debris efficiently, saving time and effort when clearing large plots of land. Rockaway rock rakes either come with a solid collection bucket or a screening collection bucket. The screening bucket has ¾” x ¾” openings laser cut into the bottom that allows you to shake out some of the extra dirt that gets collected while you’re operating.
